This 1977 Jaguar XJ12L is a long-wheelbase example that remained registered in New Jersey with one owner until the selling dealer’s acquisition in March 2023, and it now shows 18k miles. The car is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked to a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Carriage Brown over Biscuit leather upholstery. Equipment includes 15″ alloy wheels, four-wheel independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, a power sunroof, wood interior trim, a wood-rimmed Nardi Personal steering wheel, automatic climate control, power windows, a rear window defogger, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo. This Series II XJ sedan is offered in New Jersey with manufacturer’s literature, service records, tools, a stock steering wheel, and a clean New Jersey title.

The XJ Series II was introduced in late 1973 and featured raised bumpers and a smaller grille compared to the earlier Series I cars. This example is finished in Carriage Brown with gold pinstriping and is equipped with dual chrome side mirrors, a retractable radio antenna, right and left polished fuel fillers, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with black rubber caps. Paint imperfections on the lower bodywork are visible.

The 15″ Kent alloy wheels feature body-color accents and Jaguar center caps and are wrapped in 215/70 Pirelli P4000 tires. All V12-powered Series II XJ sedans rode on a 112.75″ wheelbase and featured a coil-sprung double-wishbone front suspension as well as an independent rear setup. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs at all four corners.

The cabin features seating upholstered in Biscuit leather that is complemented by brown carpets and a black dashboard. Wood trim accents the dashboard and locking glove box door, and other interior amenities include a power sunroof, automatic climate control, power windows, a rear window defogger, an analog clock, carpeted floor mats, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo.

The wood-rimmed Nardi Personal steering wheel features a Jaguar center cap and frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 18k miles, approximately 40 of which were added by the selling dealer.

The 5.3-liter V12 features electronic ignition and Bosch-Lucas fuel injection.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Rust is visible on underside components.

The vehicle invoice from Imported Motor Car Company of Montclair, New Jersey shows a purchase price when new of $17,587.50. Manufacturer’s literature, service records, tools, and a stock steering wheel are also included in the sale.

Seller's description:

1977 Jaguar XJ XJ12 L Sedan RWD

ONE OWNER SINCE NEW! FULLY DOCUMENTED SINCE DAY ONE! We are pleased to offer this collector quality 1977 Jaguar XJ12. This vehicle remained with one owner since new and was always maintained by the same mechanic since that time. Beautiful Carriage Brown over Biscuit leather interior. We have every record dating back to the day this vehicle was purchased, including the original purchase invoice. It was maintained unlike any other you will find out there. Most recently both fuel pumps were replaced. The car runs and drives incredibly. The A/C is ice cold and has been converted. This is the perfect car to add to your collection, enjoy on weekends, and certainly win shows with!
