Ebay item 1/20/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XJ12L-Fuel-Injection-in-very-good-condition_W0QQc ...
Opening bid $1,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 6 days left in auciton. 48k miles.

Sellers description:
This is a rare late Series II Jaguar XJ12 long wheelbase with fuel injection. I have owned it for 2.5 years and it was my daily driver until about a year ago. It has been enthusiast owned and maintained for many years. It is not in show condition but is a very well maintained original vehicle.

Mechanically it is in excellent condition and has recently been serviced. The only thing I am aware of that doesn't work is the air conditioning. One cylinder ticks on idle, but the issue has been stable over years and does not affect engine performance, which is strong. The battery may need replacing. Otherwise I am not aware of any mechanical issues. I have service records going back many years and can provide a reference to the current mechanic. I can't certify the indicated mileage, but it could be correct.

The exterior appears excellent from 20 feet, but there are a couple of paint bubbles (which I think, but can't guarantee, are just separation) and swirls and the passenger side rear wheel arch is a bit scratched. There is no rust in the bodywork that I am aware of, the floorpans having been professionally repaired just before I bought the vehicle. The rear driver's side door does not seal perfectly, and causes a bit of wind noise at speed. Otherwise I am not aware of any issues with the body.

The interior is also in very good condition. The leather is soft and not cracked, though it does have the slight patina of age. The wood veneer on the dash is still presentable but has a couple of cracks. The mirror adjustment lever on one of the doors is missing (and has been replaced by a screw). The original stereo has been replaced with a contemporary Pioneer CD unit. Otherwise I'm not aware of any issues with the interior. All the gagues and electrics work, and even the clock keeps decent time.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
