This 1973 Jaguar XJ6 is finished in Green Sand over tan leather, and was purchased new from British Motor Cars Distributors (BMC) in Seattle, Washington by the owner of the Skoog Manufacturing Company. The original owner put roughly 50k miles on the car before it was passed to his son in Federal Way, WA around 1990. The younger Mr. Skoog and his wife continued to drive the car and showed it at local British Car events in the 90's. It saw infrequent use from 2007 on, and following Mr. Skoog's passing, the car remained with his wife who stopped driving the car regularly in 2014. The seller purchased the car in September 2017 and conducted a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment shortly after, addressing deferred maintenance and service needs. Multiple service records dating to new are included in the sale along with a Jaguar Heritage Production Record, and the car is offered for sale with a clean Washington state title.
The seller believes the Green Sand paint to be original to the car, and notes that some dings, chips, and scratches from use are present. A dime-sized spot of corrosion is noted on the trailing edge of the spare wheel well, and some pitting is visible on the rear bumper and hubcaps.
The glass is noted to be a mix of Triplex and SICURSIV, both of which were Jaguar suppliers in the 1970's. A set of Toyo Eclipse tires with date codes from 2006 are currently fitted to the steel wheels.
The interior is trimmed in tan leather, and the seller notes that the rear seat back is a slightly lighter shade than the rest of the interior. Wear is noted on the upper driver's door and on the front carpet. Both front headrests had new foam installed during the refurbishment, and the headliner has been replaced using materials sourced from the UK. Both sun visors are in poor condition, and the seller recommends that they be replaced. The air conditioning is not currently functional, and an inspection determined that while the compressor operates, there is a refrigerant leak under the dash that will need to be repaired.
A period-look RetroSound AM/FM radio has been fitted to the lower center console, and interior electronics and gauges are reported to function as intended except for the factory clock, which only works intermittently. The odometer currently shows approximately 80,100 miles, and the mileage is believed accurate based on the known history and included service records.
Multiple photos of the floors with the carpeting removed have been provided as seen in the gallery.
Power comes from a 4.2L inline-six that is backed by an automatic transmission. New air, oil, and fuel filters were installed following the seller's acquisition along with a rebuilt water pump, new coolant hoses, new accessory belts, and new spark plugs. All work from the seller's ownership was documented in a build thread on JaguarForums, and a recent compression test showed 148, 146, 152, 152, 143, and 142 psi across the cylinders.
The brake master cylinder was rebuilt during the recent work, and the power steering rack was replaced with a remanufactured unit at the same time. Multiple undercarriage photos showing the condition of the chassis, suspension, and related components can be seen in the gallery.
A copy of the included Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Records can be seen in the gallery along with photos showing the correct matching engine and chassis numbers.
A stamped service manual with records dating to new is included in the sale along with multiple handwritten maintenance logs, assorted period booklets, and plaques from when the car was shown in the 1990's.
