This 1985 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas is finished in dark red with gold pinstripes over a beige leather interior, and power is provided by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a retractable sunroof, a Leaper hood ornament, automatic climate control, and 15″ wire wheels. The car was sold new from Walker Motor Sales of Dayton, Ohio, and was acquired in 2019 by the seller. The air conditioning compressor, drier, and expansion valve have been replaced under current ownership, along with the in-trunk fuel lines and fuel pressure regulator. An oil change was performed in 2020 along with transmission and differential fluid services. This XJ6 is now offered at no reserve with service records, factory literature, its 1985 dealer invoice, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Cranberry Red with gold pinstripes and features a retractable sunroof, a Leaper hood ornament, a power antenna, and dual fuel fillers. The seller states that the area below the rear windshield was previously refinished and a scratch on the driver’s door was repaired in 2018. There are areas of touch-up paint around the car.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are wrapped in 225/60 Toyo Extensa A/S and Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs.

The seating surfaces are upholstered in beige leather with burled wood veneers accenting the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Amenities include automatic climate control with a rear vent, a Kenwood CD stereo, an onboard computer, and power windows. The driver’s seat is said to have been reupholstered in 2016.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 5,500-rpm tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit mechanical odometer indicates 96k miles.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features Lucas-Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection. The seller notes the air conditioning compressor, drier, and expansion valve have been replaced along with the in-trunk fuel lines and fuel pressure regulator, and an oil change was last performed in 2020. An oil leak is visible.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. Transmission and differential fluid services were performed in 2020 according to the seller.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
