Lot #162269

This 1984 Jaguar XJ6 has been registered in Pennsylvania since the early 1990s and was purchased by the seller in October 2021. It subsequently participated in multiple Monongahela Melee rallies, covering just under 7k miles during that time. The car is finished in white over blue leather upholstery and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15″ alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a Leaper hood ornament, a sunroof, fog lights, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, and power windows. Recent service has included rebuilding or replacing the alternator, spark plugs, cooling hoses, heater control valve, ball joints, tie rod ends, and brake master cylinder as well as various ignition, power steering, and fuel system components. This Series III XJ6 is now offered at no reserve with the owner’s manual, service records, a damage-free Carfax report, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.

The Pininfarina-styled bodywork is finished in white and features a Leaper hood ornament, a power sunroof, a power antenna, fog lights, power-adjustable side mirrors, mud flaps, bright trim, and dual exhaust outlets. Rust and bubbling paint are seen at the base of the front and rear windshields, and signs of paintwork are noted in those areas. The magnetic graphics seen on the left fender and door are not included in the sale.

The 15″ Kent vented alloy wheels are mounted with 215/70 BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial redline tires that were installed in January 2022, and braking is handled by ventilated front and solid rear discs. Maintenance under current ownership has included replacing the brake master cylinder, lower ball joints, outer tie rod ends, the power steering rack bushings and pinion seal, and the power steering hoses.

The seating surfaces are trimmed in blue leather, while burl wood accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Interior equipment includes front bucket seats, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, cruise control, automatic climate control, and power windows and locks. The air conditioning system does not work, the central locking system only operates using the door key, and the digital trip computer is not fully functioning. The upper dash upholstery is lifting, and the driver’s seat leather is cracking.

The two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as gauges for oil pressure, voltage, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 95k miles, approximately 7k of which were added under current ownership. The Pennsylvania title shows an odometer reading of 97,500 miles in December 2021, which later produced a mileage inconsistency on the Carfax report in May 2023.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory rated at 205 horsepower and 231 lb-ft of torque. A front seal leak is noted. Service under current ownership has reportedly included rebuilding the ignition amplifier and alternator, cleaning the throttle body and air valve, and replacing the following components:

Heater control valve

Fuel tank selector valve

Fuel sending units

Fuel hoses and filter

Spark plugs and ignition coil

Drive belts

Radiator and transmission cooler hoses

Transmission filter and fluid

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a BorgWarner three-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
