Ebay item 6/30/10

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-XJ6-V8-CLASSIC-JAGUAR-V8-SB-Hot-Rod-/270600081217

Current bid $1,825, no reserve, 7 bids 5 days left in auction. Buy it now price $7,000.

Sellers description:

Jaguar With all the elegance comfort and handling of a fine British Luxury Sport Motorcar but better still because you will reap the rewards of a no expense spared Chevy Small Block V8 and TH700R4 four speed automatic transmission conversion done by previous owner in UTAH yes UTAH! And that dry desert climate has delivered us a very rare~~ RUST FREE ~~~XJ6!!! Clean examples of these classic jags are becoming few and far between. Ask yourself when is the last time you saw one on the road? This fine motorcar is a joy to own! I have owned Lotus, Porsche, Maserati, Citreon, Mercedes and when comparing total cost of ownership NONE of those fine cars could deliver the bang for the buck that this great car does! You have four wheel independent suspension with disc brakes on all four corners! A full stainless steel exhaust with dual catalytic converters. American V8 power (faster than the Jag V12 off the line!) and The Edelbrock 600cfm 4 barrel carb with electric choke is both powerful and economical to run!

I love this car it is Powerful, Luxurious, Elegant, and handles like a sports car. When you tilt forward the bonnet you can see a clean V8 installation that purrs like a kitten! Cost of ownership is nothing compared to your typical euro sport car! This car is one of if not the best car of its type you'll ever see. Had it not been for a dead beat eBay buyer this car would have been sold locally so only serious bidders please.

Question answers

What kind of engine is it?~~~> It's a Chevy Small block 305 cubic inch runs beautifully! Does not burn any oil idles very smoothly The previous owner told me that the owner before him did the conversion All I really know about it is that it idles very smoothly it has awesome acceleration it does not burn any oil The 600cfm Edelbrock 4 barrel is dialed-in nicely and looks like new!

Is it a Johns Cars kit~~~>Unknown however...The engine bay is neat. It is not some Frankenstein back yard conversion for sure.

Is the rear diff original?~~~>Stock and oh so beautiful Jaguar rear end! What about the drive shaft? Balanced perfectly and is also Jaguar!

Is the vacuum system sorted?---> Like I said the car idles very smoothly it has an electronic choke. It does not have power locks so no troubles

there.

Is the paint crazing or has it been stripped and repainted? ~~~~> It had been repainted about two owners ago it is a really high quality repaint and there is no signs of any accidents when looking at the sub frame and chassis or structural areas.

Window gaskets are all in great shape except for on front passenger side window external felt strip has one small 1/32 sized puncture in it ($15.00 part)

How is the interior wood? ~~~> Grrrreat! Beautiful my guess it's been redone at some point.

Finally, is the leather in good shape? ~~~> it has the driver's side bolster worn through hence the $500 custom New Zealand Sheep Skin seat covers on both front seats they are a posh and elegant solution!

The car was sold in an auction at one point but the title is currently clear. All fluids changed on regular basis, new brake booster and master cylinder, brakes pads were replaced 6 months ago as well as new ngk plugs and 8 mil silicon hi performance wires with heat protected nomex boots. New European style air horn installed, all new switches installed for windows (they all function perfectly), New Zealand lamb skin custom form fitted seat covers(warm in winter cool in summer). The fuel delivery system has been reconfigured so it works perfectly and a new hi flow fuel pump was installed along with a glass inline filter. Carpets are in great condition and headliner is like new. Power seats function, rear defrost works and powered antenna works great> and car has alpine stereo system. This car is the best xj6 of this style you'll find on eBay.

Car returns to ebay 1/13/20

www.ebay.com/itm/1987-Jaguar-XJ6/264597140971

Car has a buy it now price of $4,850 for 6 days, seller sroot524, car now said to be in Mertztown, Pennsylvania, 150k miles, previously Alexandria, VA

Seller's description:

Offered up for your future enjoyment is a 1987 Jaguar XJ6. A SBC [Chevy] and 700r4 automatic transmission were installed for added reliability and a much lower mechanical maintenance cost. A custom stainless steel exhaust system was installed to add longevity and a nice exhaust note. The vehicle seemingly floats down the road on the wonderfully engineered jaguar suspension. This is by far one of the most comfortable and smoothest cars I have ever driven. Runs, Drives, and Stops great. Come check it out for yourself!

SBC/700r4

Rebuilt Holley Carb

Custom Stainless Exhaust

New wood panels in Dash from Jaguar

New Tires (less than 500miles)

All power windows work

All power locks work

A/C System updated (all new hoses, electric fans, trinary switch, drier, r134a refrigerant)

150,XXX miles on body (unknown on engine/trans)

-Vehicle has been repainted at some point. Its a beautiful British racing green. Looks to have had the clear coat hand sanded and polished for a nice finish. With all that being said, it has its flaws here and there. Has some minor rust in inconspicuous areas, some dings, some chipped paint in the lower corners of the trunk opening from previous owners not "soft closing" the trunk as Jaguar describes. Overall very nice, driver quality car

-Engine does smoke on start up. Tell tale sign of needing valve guide seals. Pretty easy job on a SBC, but never bothered me enough to do it. Never had to add oil between changes because of it, and a little extra upper cylinder lubricant never hurt anybody.

-Has a small power steering leak. Have not looked into the source of the leak. I just add fluid when it starts to get whiny. It's not than common of an occurrence. Perhaps daily use would require more fill ups, but under light use it hasn't been an issue.

-A/C and Heat work. Switching between the two can take awhile. Probably just a combination of a slow heater control valve and Lucas wiring. It also seems lately that the A/C fan only works on low speed.

-Still has the dual saddle tanks, but the problematic switching valve has been removed and the tanks have been tied together at the bottom. By doing this, you can still fill from either side (or both for a quick dual tank fill up) and you don't ever have to worry about switching tanks. Tank level automatically equalizes and they drain evenly. Fuel gauge works and is accurate but after fill up it takes some driving to register (theres Lucas again)

-Has black seat covers. Original Tan leather seats are beat up pretty good. The black seat covers are made for these seats, so they fit well.

I tried explaining all of the issues to the best of my knowledge. If you are local and can make the trip, coming to view the car in person is always favorable.

This Jaguar is definitely a nice driving and looking car. Would make for a great classic daily, or weekend cruiser. Definitely would not be out of place at some local classic car shows or cruises. Car is titled and register as an antique in PA.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
