Car was at auction in '07
classiccars.brightwells.com/viewdetails.php

Auction description:
Lot number 48
Hammer value £1300
Description Jaguar XJ6C 4.2 Coupe
Registration TAW 756R
Year 1976
Colour Red
Engine size 4,200 cc
Chassis No. 2J1910BW
Engine No. 26998S

Manufactured in December 1975, this particular car was supplied new to Henlys of Coventry and was originally Lavender Blue with the registration number PDU 213R. By 1993 the colour had been changed to red and the number had become TAW 756R after personalised plates had been fitted and removed.

At some point the car has been fitted with fuel injection from an XJ6 Series 3 which should produce more power and better fuel economy. Series 3 wheels have also been fitted. In the late 1990s the car was treated to a full bodywork restoration including new front wings, new door skins, and new rear arches. In 1998 the engine was rebuilt by Jaguar specialists VSE at a cost of £1,657 and converted to run on unleaded fuel. It has only covered around 3,000 miles since.

In the current owner's seven year tenure the car has been well maintained as detailed in the history folder. Said to perform very well it has a long MOT and tax and is only being sold due to his declining health.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
