Clean Carfax Report

Lot #263348

This 1983 Jaguar XJ6 has resided in California since it was acquired new by the seller’s mother, and it now shows 70k miles. Finished in Sebring Red over Biscuit leather, it is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15″ Kent vented alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a Leaper hood ornament, a sunroof, and fog lights, in addition to automatic climate control, cruise control, and a cassette stereo. The car has been off the road for approximately three years, and in preperation for the sale, the battery was replaced. This Series III XJ6 is offered by the seller on behalf of their mother’s estate at no reserve with a window sticker, the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, and a California title in the owner’s name.

The Pininfarina-styled bodywork is finished in Sebring Red (CDJ) and features a Leaper hood ornament, fog lights, and a power sunroof, antenna, and side mirrors. The seller notes oxidation of the brightwork and other imperfections.

The 15″ Kent vented alloy wheels are mounted with Michelin tires that show production date codes from 2014. Stopping power is provided by ventilated front and solid inboard rear disc brakes, and the car is further equipped with power rack-and-pinion steering.

The cabin is trimmed in Biscuit leather along with burl wood accents, and it features automatic climate control, cruise control, a trip computer, and a cassette stereo.

The two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as gauges for oil pressure, voltage, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 70k miles.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory rated at 205 horsepower and 231 lb-ft of torque. The battery was replaced in preperation for the sale. The car was designated a gross polluter in California between February and March 2005.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a BorgWarner three-speed automatic transmission. Corrosion is visible on underbody components.

The window sticker lists initial delivery to Imperial Motors of Wilmette, Illinois, along with standard equipment, options, and a total suggested retail price of $30,850.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
