This 1987 Jaguar XJ6 was initially delivered to Bluff City Jaguar of Memphis, Tennessee, and remained under the care of its original owner until the seller’s recent purchase in 2026. Showing 58k miles, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Solent Blue over Biscout leather. Features include a Leaper hood ornament, a sunroof, a power antenna, 15″ Kent vented alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows. This Series III XJ6 is offered at no reserve with the owner’s manual, a window sticker, a clean Carfax report, and an Idaho title in the owner’s name.

The Pininfarina-styled bodywork is finished in Solent Blue and features a Leaper hood ornament, a power sunroof, a power antenna, power-adjustable side mirrors, bright trim, and dual exhaust outlets. Paint scratches and dings are noted.

The 15″ Kent vented alloy wheels are mounted with a mixed set of Venezia and Michelin tires, and braking is handled by ventilated front and solid inboard rear discs. The front shocks, rear brake calipers, and front and rear brake pads and rotors were replaced in 2016.

The seating surfaces are trimmed in Biscout leather, while burl wood accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Interior equipment includes an AM/FM/cassette stereo, a trip computer, a radar detector, air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows and locks.

The two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as gauges for oil pressure, voltage, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 58k miles.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory rated at 205 horsepower and 231 lb-ft of torque. The valve cover gaskets, drive belts, and air conditioning compressor were replaced in 2016.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a BorgWarner three-speed automatic transmission. The rear differential cover gasket was replaced in 2016.

The window sticker lists initial delivery to Bluff City Jaguar of Memphis, Tennessee, as well as factory colors, equipment, and a total amount of $36,715. An accompanying dealer addendum lists additional equipment and charges for a total price of $41,540.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
