Ebay item 10/28/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-1979-Jaguar-XJ12L-Professional-Chevy-V8-conversio ...
Car has a buy it now price of $3,500 for 6 days. 139k miles.

Sellers description:
Jaguar Series II XJ12L professionally converted Chevrolet LT-1 Corvette engine with Turbo 350 transmission. The car like many Jaguars were converted to Chevy V8 for less expensive ownership and better performance and mileage, the car is very quick for a full size car. The professional conversion was done in Hollywood California by Stephen Hudak where the car was originally bought new. I brought the car from there and it was driven back here where I planned on doing a completely restoration and have bought a lot of new pieces and parts and have only did minor work until I got inundated with work and family and was unable to take on such a project. I drove the car once in awhile for the couple of years I had it and then just stored it, in hopes things might change and didn’t want to part with it, now we have plans of moving and need to sell it.

The car runs good and transmission works perfect and doesn’t seem to burn any oil. A few small things need work like the heater core and a couple of windows that need the tracks cleaned and lubed. New battery has been installed and It drives fine but is not currently licensed. It has A/C and worked before I parked it, but needs to be recharged now. The owner before me had some new upholstery done to it. I have all the paper work and receipts for it that was given to me, which shows an extensive amount of care. The car is in need of new paint which is expected of a car this old but the body is in very straight condition. It has a full size matching spare and many new emblems. The odometer shows just under 139K which are probably actual miles but unknown to me otherwise. I have over $7,500 invested in it and I’m only asking for half my investment for it, which is it’s worth in parts only. I’m interested in seeing that it go to a good home and not just for parts, it’s just to nice for that. I also have the original owner's manual that all comes with it and some other rare factory memorabilia that I've collected and you can have for what I paid for it. Nice Jaguar's like this are rare and hard to find these days, so if you're looking for one to make a show car out of you'll be hard pressed to find a better start.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
