Ebay item 4/2/16 www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XJ12-Chrome-/262365320784
Car has a buy it now price of $9,700 for 9 days.
Sellers description:
1976 Jaguar XJ12L owned by me for about 35 years, purchased and driven locally in Colorado for 15 years, driven here to California and used locally for another 20 years. . It drives very smoothly and quietly on the freeways and runs cool. I provided maintenance and my Mother, now deceased, was the primary driver both in Colorado and California.
RETIREMENT DOWN-SIZING IS THE REASON FOR SELLING
Jaguar connoisseurs will be disappointed to know that there sits under the hood a completely rebuilt and professionally installed V-8 with less than 20K miles on it...but better said now so as not to waste your time. The odometer shows about 85K and estimated mileage on the engine is less than 20K. The engine: 5.7L 350 C.I., inspected by the State of California, Bureau of Automotive Repair and affixed with a permanent compliance sticker located in the driver's door jamb.
As for me, the 12 cylinder engine was expensive to operate and repair. Its DNA apparently has been compromised some say but others in a practical way, say differently i.e. easy accessibility within the engine compartment, easy to tune up, easy to find parts, 87 octane, etc. One other thing: the 12 cylinder had a notoriously-known propensity to have engine fires due to the English fuel injection system. The 8 cylinder, 5.7L 350 C.I. Chevrolet engine has lots of power...plenty...and very good on gasoline. Estimated mileage on the engine is less than 20K.
So I'll consider it bad news (maybe) to you regarding the almost new V-8 and give you GOOD NEWS.
CONDITION DESCRIPTION:
You can drive it away without worry or needing to spend any more money. It just passed California smog test with flying colors. It has 2 new catalytic converters, a new carburetor and 2 new gas tanks which will keep you passing smog for years to come (check to see if this vehicle qualifies for California smog-exempt status next year).
The engine was inspected by the State of California, Bureau of Automotive Repair. The engine was found to meet strict California standards, was approved, and is affixed with a permanent compliance sticker located in the driver's door jamb. It has been registered as such here in California for 20 years in my name.
View all the images but there are more good things you cannot see in a photo. It has a pretty new rack and pinion system. You will not have to buy new tires. It has never been in an accident. All of the exterior lighting is in working condition including brake lights, back-up lights, running lights and headlights, high and low dim. Interior open-door lights work.
Rear seat arm-rest opens and closes easily. Driver all-door-lock rocker button works. The emergency flasher is good. Wipers are good. New ignition switch is good. Interior light button is good. Fuel gauge is good. Radio and powered antenna good. Volt (battery) gauge is good.
The battery is new.
The alternator is new. Temperature gauge is good (engine always runs cool). The window up-down rocker buttons are all good. The fan and temperature switches for the air-conditioning are good. Speedometer is good, calibrated and accurate.
The power steering is good. Push-button interior light works. Push-button fuel tank switch works. Push-button map light switch works. Push-button heated rear window is probably good.
It has never been in an accident.
THINGS THAT YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO DO:
1) Replace the driver's seat-belt immediately. All other seat-belts are good.
NON-TERRIBLY COSTLY THINGS THAT YOU DON'T NECESSARILY NEED TO DO:
1) The headliner. Sunshine through the rear window has caused damage to the headliner, there at the rear window.
2) Replace a small section of the driver's seat. (see photo).
3) Install the heater core not needed so much here in southern California. It has been by-passed in the normal way years ago.
4) Fix the odometer & tachometer. My recollection is that they were working at the time of the engine change-over (the odometer shows 85K and my Mother drove the Jaguar far fewer miles than 20K after the engine change-over. I am estimating the TOTAL mileage on the car itself to be between 95K and 105K. I am estimating the total engine mileage to be between 10K and 20K).
5) Replace some optic lights.
6) Hang and attach the "backing" for both rear doors. Cover with similar upholstery. These are removed for access to rear speakers and window motors. Templates are in my possession.

Car returns to ebay 9/20/22
Car has a buy it now price of $2,700 for 6 days, seller jobiesports, 96k miles. Car now in Mission, Texas, previously Corona, California.
Seller's description:
This is my 76 Jag- XJ6, have had 5 Jags. Bought in 2017, the car had been modified in 1990 in California. Previous owner put a Chevy 350 with Quadra jet 4 bbl carburetor, and TH350 automatic transmission, drove it for number of years. I wanted to swap it to LS engine, as I did with my 55 chevy 3100 truck, but just never got around to do it. It is time to take out of the garage and let someone else do this project. I took all of the carpet out, the old AC system, and have all the trims for the interior, the only thing that is needed are the following;
1. repair the 350 engine- been shut down for 3.5 years, car doesn't start,
2. put a new carpet and re- do 1 door panel- all other 3 door panels are very good.
3. Does NOT have an AC system- took it all out.
4. Tires are very old, but still holding pressure, the spare tire is brand NEW- although from 1997.
5. Dual gas tanks lines are all in very good shape, and fuel pump works.
6. Exterior body has no rust, ONLY 2 very small spots in trunk of car.
7. Driver side has one long scar on the bottom but it was done when towing the car, very small damage.
8. Dashboard does need to be changed, the trim wood has cracked in different places.
