Ebay item 3/15/17
www.ebay.com/itm/1976-Jaguar-XJ12-/232270521627
Opening bid US $6,000 reserve not met, no bids 6 days left in auction, buy it now price $14,000, seller kabadou, 67k miles.

Sellers description:
1976 Jaguar XJ12C Coupe,
Rare & elegant, Original Ruby Red, with Tan interior.
Only produced from 1975-1977.

I am the third owner of this Jaguar XJ12C. Its a low mileage, well kept, garage kept, unrestored, rust free, California car. The second owner bought it nearly new around 1978. He only drove it out of town once on a road trip from Northern California to LA. He never had faith in the Jaguar 12 cylinder engine which is why he eventually had a professional chevy engine conversion done. He was 85 years old when I purchased the car from him. The engine, transmission and computer are from the same 1995 Z28 with only 5000 original miles. The engine is stock aside from the recent ignition system upgrade and custom cold air intake.

The car is mechanically sound, most everything works on the car including all gauges, tachometer and speedometer. All power windows work but are slow. Bosch fuel pump is new. All brakes and bearings have been replaced. Brake booster and master cylinder replaced. Battery is new. The interior carpets, door panels and seat covers were replaced at some point by the previous owner. Chrome and rubber on bumpers is very nice. The car comes with original tool kit & all original hand books & manuals. There is a dent around the left rear tail light. Somebody backed into it in a parking lot. I had a repair estimate of $1000. The actual tail light had some damage but its operational. I have a new one in a box. I put the current tires on five years ago and they should be replaced.

Temp guage was replaced with aftermarket to show an actual temperature. The original does not indicate a numerical value. I have the original. The tach was was modified for a V8 engine and works properly. The entire cooling system has been replaced with BeCool natural aluminum parts from Summit along with matching transmission cooler. The air conditioning compressor, evaporator and dryer have been replaced with modern natural aluminum parts from Summit Only thing that remains for the AirCon is hoses. The ignition system has been replaced with a new MSD Optispark (distributor), plugs and wires. The paint is original and in very presentable condition.

Extra items that come with car: Euro headlight kit conversion kit, custom exhaust headers, new original door hinges (very hard to find).

Vehicle is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The vehicle is sold as Is.

This 1976 Jaguar XJ12C is finished in Regency Red with a black vinyl top over a tan leather interior and is powered by a 5.7L LT1 V8 mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The car is said to have been sold new in California and was acquired by the seller three years ago. It is equipped with power windows and an aftermarket HVAC system, along with a Euro-spec lower front grille, front and rear bumpers, and turn signals. Maintenance within the past three years reportedly included replacement of the rack and pinion, water pump, and distributor, as well as both fuel tanks, the sending units, and the fuel pump. This V8 XJ coupe is now offered in Colorado with the seller’s service records, removed factory parts, and a clean Montana title in the seller’s name.

The two-door pillarless body is finished in Regency Red (7635) and features the black vinyl roof that was fitted to the XJ coupes as standard. Exterior features include Euro front and rear bumpers, lower grille, and front turn signals, along with 8″ Euro-spec lamps in the outboard headlight positions. The seller reports acquiring the car with damage to the left rear fender, and that dent repair and replacement of the taillight on that side were followed by a repaint in the factory color.

Lattice aluminum wheels from a late-1980s XJS feature two-stage black-lacquered centers and wear 225/70R15 Hankook Kinergy ST tires that were mounted in March 2019. A leak in the replacement rack and pinion was repaired under warranty in April 2020, and the factory steel chrome wheels and center caps, with a set of Firestone FR710 tires mounted in 2017, are included in the sale.

The interior is trimmed in tan leather with matching carpets and burl wood veneers. An aftermarket HVAC system has been installed along with an FM radio with a USB input. The seller notes that the power antenna is inoperative and that the rear power windows require manual assistance when being raised.

A leather-wrapped Nardi steering wheel fronts instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a replacement engine temperature gauge. The five-digit odometer shows just over 48k miles, approximately 1,500 of which were added by the seller.

The 5.7L V8 was reportedly sourced from a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and was installed by the previous owner. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a T-56 six-speed manual transmission that was installed by the seller. Maintenance under current ownership included replacement of the water pump, fuel pump, and distributor.

Both fuel tanks and their sending units are also said to have been replaced under current ownership.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
