Ebay item 11/7/14 www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XJ-Coupe-1976-xj-12-coupe-/141461748069
Current bid US $5,100 reserve not met 3 bids 8 days left in auction, buy it now price $38,500. 70k miles.
Sellers description:
This is the car I thought I'd never sell, but a new business venture has changed some priorities. The XJ12 Coupe is one of the rarest Jaguars built and also one of the most striking. A two door, pillar-less version of the renowned XJ body style was only built from 1975-1977. This one is near perfect. I bought it from a long-time JCNA member who had just rebuilt the engine, then moved on to other projects before completing the car. It was originally a California car, then Utah, so came to me very solid. I have completed the restoration over a 7-8 year period and spared no expense. This is a list of the major things done:
1. Rebuilt front and rear suspension, installing polyurethane bushings and Bilstein shocks.
2. Rebuilt the brake system, including all calipers, brake lines and new pads.
3. Installed a stainless steel exhaust system.
4. Replaced the original ignition system, changing from Opus to the later HE system. Everything was purchased from SNG Barratt and looks stock.
5. All of the wiring has been sorted out, including replacing the EFI harness.
6. Both fuel tanks have been sent to a specialist for cleaning and re-coating. Entire fuel system sorted.
7. I have converted this car from the original US specification bumpers to the more elegant Euro spec chrome bumpers. These are not easy to find and where re-chromed. They are perfect.
8. The car has been repainted after stripping down to bare metal. There was a dealer-installed sunroof in place which leaked when I bought the car. I removed this and restored the roof to it's original factory appearance, minus the vinyl covering. The paint, glass and brightwork are flawless. All door and window seals are new.
9. On the interior, the headlining has been replaced, the carpet is new and the wood dash has also been replaced with a brand new piece. The leather seats had been redone by the previous owner and look great.
10. I have replaced the original BW slush box with a Tremec 5 speed transmission. It shifts great and really changes the character of the car in a good way. It's really what the V-12 needs.
