Ebay item 3/6/24
www.ebay.com/itm/386837233554
Opening bid $37,125, reserve not met, 0 bids, buy it now price $49,500, 6 days left in auction, seller westcoastclassics, 100k miles.

Seller's description:
West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional example of this original southern California and very rare limited production 1975 Jaguar XJ6 4.2L Series II 6 cylinder 2 Door Coupe, otherwise known as the legendary and very desirable and collectible XJ6C, the unique two door pillar-less coupe bodystyle!

These handsome hardtop derivatives of the Jaguar XJ sedan, built on the original short wheel base Series I platform, were referred to as the 'Corporate Sports Car' of the 1970's by the Jaguar advertising agency. This was a rival to any of the other luxury marques of its day, and typically both much better looking and luxurious. Plush leather and walnut interior, handsome lines and the smooth powerful Jaguar 4.2 litre or V12 engines, combined with super low production numbers, (only 1,794 six cylinders & 686 V12's were built between the 1975-78 production years for the U.S ), have made these XJ6C Coupes highly sought after and collectible worldwide. One of the few true great cars from Europe from the mid seventies that remain both classic and attractive, and a true stand out in the late 1970's era of its mostly bastardized safety and emission control regulated contemporaries.

Gorgeous and seriously striking color combination with factory alloy wheels and beautiful 'Dark Blue' Connolly leather interior and 'Black' vinyl roof! This particular car must be seen to be truly appreciated! A real head-turner!
Obviously always garaged with absolutely no rust and no signs of any accidents, with service history going back to 1979, showing that at no time was any expense spared on this particular car's maintenance history, literally thousands and thousands of dollars spent on this particular cars preventive maintenance! The car has just turned 100K miles and is in better condition, both mechanically and otherwise than a car with half its miles!

Always primarily serviced at either Jaguar dealers or independent specialists with recent service at both 'Classic Showcase' of Oceanside, CA and 'Edmunds Jaguar Rolls-Royce Service' of Palm Desert, CA. The car is turn key ready for its new owner with working and new 134 air conditioning and a full tune up and new front brakes. The car had a new rebuilt transmission and torque convertor in 2020 at 98,959 miles, a new brake master cylinder and rewired ignition system at 98,657 miles, rebuilt carbs at 98,502 miles, new window regulators at 98,845 miles, new front and rear brake pads, rotors & calipers at 96,367 miles, and a complete engine removal, assembly and rebuild at 97,881 miles, less than 2,462 miles ago! (at a cost of over $6,800 alone!). Further extensive and comprehensive service history going back to 1979 is presented in a thick file to be included in the sale.

Owned and driven by only obviously very careful and mature southern California owners/drivers since new - obviously never abused, babied all the way! The original factory color paint is still in exceptional condition as is the interior with the door panels, headliner and the carpets also in outstanding condition throughout, with an absolutely exceptionally well preserved original Burled Walnut wood veneer. Throughout their history, Jaguar has offered some of the most beautiful and complex wood appointments ever found in automobiles, with this particular examples Burled Walnut especially exquisite!

This must be one of the finest examples available anywhere of this classic and increasingly collectible Series II XJ6C's, a truly luxurious smooth ride and one of the last beautiful hand built cars from Jaguar's legendary Browns Lane, Coventry, England plant. This was a car that was prohibitively expensive to build, being a highly labor intensive hand built car, requiring many skilled hours to build from its modified saloon body, with elongated and lengthened doors and removal of B pillars and vinyl roof, it cost a significant penny back in 1975!

This is probably one of the last classically beautiful designs built by Jaguar in their long and famous history of classic lines - and now becoming increasingly hard to find in such all original stock and such fabulously well kept and maintained condition and with this car having had only very careful southern California owners and with the car having obviously always been garaged since new!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
