    Ebay item 4/27/11
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/sharp-looking-burgandy-new-tires-battery-alternator-/260 ...
    Classified ad, asking $3,200.

    Sellers description:
12 cylinder Jag. Stored in garage since 2002 due to failed alternator. Alternator has been replaced. But still not charging: NOW tracing ignition circuit and checking relay. Transmission shifts fine. New battery. New tires. New headliner and ceiling trim!!! New WALNUT BURL dash!!! Paint finish is still fresh looking (possible recent respray). Gas tanks, filters, all four Zenith Stromberg carbs, both fuel pumps cleaned and are again operational. Included in sale is new automatic antenna still in box for replacement. Exhaust is fairly new. Catalytic converters have been removed; due to its age, "classic/antique car" ..exempt from the usual scrutiny of current emissions standards. XJ12 runs like a demon!!!

SOME ISSUES:: carbs need to be synchronized. But engine is strong - starts right up and drives! Rubber hoses and lines are original and should be checked/replaced. Do not know if A/C works. Small rust blisters forming on right front fender back at cat emblem. Floor pans showing some rust. Original interior Biscuit color used by Jaguar and Rolls Royce during this period showing usual fade. Leather is intact and somewhat still soft.

When I bought this car last October, I had a garage; now I don't. I plan to drive it until it sells.

    Car returns to ebay 5/11/11

    Classified ad asking $2,500.

    Previous listing expired.

Updated interior, redyed leather/vinyl, new headliner, new burl dash, new custom carpeting and seat backs makes this Regency Red a showroom stopper. Close inspection shows sheet metal tacked on to frame from firewall along right/left floorboards back past cross members where cancer had been cut out a long time ago. Floorboards have been repaired and sealed nicely. Offered recently at very low "parting out" price due to frustrating carburetor problems. Beware of compromised unit body structure and future rust.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
