This 1973 Jaguar XJ12 is a Series I short wheelbase sedan that was acquired by the seller in 2000 reportedly following a period of storage. The car is finished in brown over tan leather upholstery and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes chrome bumpers, four-wheel disc brakes, wood interior trim, power windows, air conditioning, and a Panasonic AM/FM cassette stereo. The air conditioning compressor was replaced under current ownership along with the left head gasket, axle seals, shocks, rear brake rotors, and the front and rear subframe bushings. This XJ12 is offered with service records, uninstalled parts, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in brown with quad headlights, a chrome grille, bumpers, and trim, and dual side mirrors, fuel filler caps, and exhaust outlets. Dings on the right-front door and left-front fender are shown in the gallery below along with cracking paint near the left fuel filler cap.

Bright-finished 15″ wheels wear Jaguar-branded center caps and are mounted with 215/70 Hankook Radial H714 tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The shocks and rear brake rotors were replaced in 2022 along with the front and rear subframe bushings.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a contoured rear bench trimmed in tan leather. Wood trim adorns the dash and door panels, and the car is fitted with a replacement headliner, power windows, air conditioning, and a Panasonic AM/FM cassette stereo. Cracks are visible on the top of the dash and on the driver’s seat bottom, and the seller notes that the upholstery is stiff. The air conditioning compressor was replaced and the system was recharged in January 2022. The factory radio is included in the sale.

A leather-wrapped Nardi steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer. Auxiliary gauges mounted above the center stack display voltage, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 60k miles, approximately 16k of which were added by the seller. The clock is not functional.

The 5.3-liter V12 is equipped with Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and a Crane Cams Fireball ignition. The left-side head gasket was replaced in 2004 by XK’s Unlimited of San Luis Obispo, and a replacement radiator was fitted in 2013 along with a coolant-crossover pipe modification. The seller notes an oil leak and that a portion of the emissions system was removed and is included with the car.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The rear axle was fitted with replacement seals in 2022 at which time the exhaust gaskets were also replaced.

The serial number tag shown above indicates car number UD1P51086BW, while the California title shows a VIN of J73UD1P51086BW [note, the J73 prefix indicates original California delivery].
