Ebay item 5/22/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973-Jaguar-XJ-4dr-Exc-350-Chevy-Eng-400-Trans-4b-carb-/ ...
Current bid $2,550 reserve not met, 5 bids 8 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1973 Jaguar XJ ready to cruise. This is a no pet, no smoked in auto that has been garaged (temperature controlled) throughout my five plus years of ownership. After a nearly a complete restoration, here is an opportunity for someone to grab a classic as my loss is definitely someone's gain, but I will not give it away. I have invested a lot in this Jag as indicated below. So if you or someone you know have been searching, here is a chance to win one.

There are a few things/blemishes and I am listing all to the best of my knowledge. The odometer does not reflect its actual miles as it has a new engine with only 2,253 miles; a few door dings on passenger side rear door; could use a driver door bushing; trunk lid slightly raised on passenger side needs adjusting; no radio installed, but available; dash temperature gauge works sometimes (alternate working gauge is installed); due to limited driving, carburetor may or may not need adjusting;* low beam headlights not working, replacement lamps available; working air conditioner needs re-charging; rear passenger side window operates slower than others, but replacement motor available & there is a windshield blemish on the passenger side.

Here are the goodies; excellent GM chevy engine with approximately 2,253 miles; newly rebuilt 400 transmission (receipt on-hand) with only 2,047 miles; new AC dryer; new 810cca battery; new carpet thru-out + floor mats front & rear; new upholstered butter soft leather front seats, nice rear seats, nice headliner, nice dashboard, new rear window deck, new upholstered trunk; new sun visors; #4 new Perelli tires - under 2,200 miles, excellent full-size spare; all exterior *lights work to include interior side post lamps-dash lights-map light; all power windows work; all door locks work; cigarette lighter works; heater & defrost works; air-conditioner works (need recharging); both fuel tanks removed, professionally cleaned & coated; new fuel sending units; new fuel filters; all new engine belts; new radiator hoses; new thermostat; new brakes; brake hoses; tinted windows; automatic transmission; replaced front rack-n-pion; paint is 4yrs, 4 mos old and have some receipts on hand. I'm sure there are some things I have forgotten, but will update & add additional pics soon.

This Jag is 38 years old, but I believe it is more reliable today than it was originally. It runs and drives nicely, however there are no warranties expressed or implied; and is sold as is. I have a few additional good parts on-hand and will offer them to the winner of this auction. I have been holding them since they are expensive and sometimes difficult to find. This Jag is driveable, but I would recommend having it transported (buyer responsible) to protect your investment.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
