Ebay item 3/2/19

www.ebay.com/itm/1987-Jaguar-XJ12-TWR/163573243520

Opening bid $25,000, no reserve, no bids 6 days left in auction, seller classicstuff64, 40k miles, car said to be in Williamsburg, New Mexico.

Seller's description:

YOU ARE LOOKING AT "THE" RAREST JAGUAR XJ12 EVER FOR SALE ON EBAY OR ANYWHERE!

However, there’s a dark horse from the stable that goes against the grain. Very rarely spotted in the wild, this truly bonkers big cat is the one collectors fall over themselves to acquire. Meet Jaguar's effective first-generation XJR !

The Equalizer on steroids.

Folklore would have you believe that Jaguar’s definitive sports saloon first emerged from the brimstone-lined pits of hell back with the 1994 launch of the X300, but those cloven hoofs were first seen six years previously. Tuned by Tom Walkinshaw Racing and sporting a fettled 5.3-litre V12, the JaguarSport XJ12 first landed on public tarmac for 1988. No BMW was safe,

Based upon a top-whack Daimler Sovereign Series III model, you could send your V12 saloon off for some cosmetic surgery and create something truly bizarre. As a cocktail of upper-class dominance in a retro shape mated to Max Power levels of chod, nothing came close. It was like draping Buckingham Palace with an anarchy flag.

Trimmed and injected with decadence by the Oxfordshire-based JaguarSport, a dual venture by Jaguar and race team TWR, a price list was offered from the tuning house that offered suspension kits, tuning packages and bodywork add-ons. It wasn’t cheap, but the results spoke for themselves.

with most Mercedes-Benz owners diving for the nearest hedgerow

Built alongside the XJ220 in TWR’s Kidlington-based factory, the first-generation XJR was fitted with upgraded suspension featuring unique Bilstein dampers and revised power steering valves to increase steering weight by 40%. Bespoke exterior paint and aesthetic touches were also added, making for a unique package even HRH The Queen Mother admired. It certainly would have ensured she returned home for Gin o’Clock on time.

Differing cosmetically from the standard showroom XJ12 Series III, the XJR showcased a colour-coordinated bodykit – consisting of new front and rear valances with accompanying side skirts crafted from fibreglass. The shell ran on Speedline alloy wheels designed to fit larger tyres. As time marched on and disc brakes became larger, cooling ducts were added to the front valance.

The cabin wore all the usual Jaguar debauchery, yet with a number of exclusive add-ons. There was a leather MoMo steering wheel, leather gear knob and seat headrests embossed with JaguarSport motifs.

Only a smattering of Series III V12 XJR models were given the TWR treatment, making them invaluable to Jaguar enthusiasts and rarely found out with car shows and TV programmes. However, this example has turned up for sale through online auction, and you’ll want to

Car returns to ebay 5/29/20

www.ebay.com/itm/1987-Jaguar-XJ12-TWR-XJ12-TWR/184309035537

Car has a buy it now price of $37,995 for 29 days, seller europeanmotorstudiogt, same location.

Seller's description:

European Motor Studio is very excited to offer this incredibly rare and unusual 1987 Jaguar XJ12 Series III Tom Walkinshaw Racing Sport. Draped in Nimbus White over Biscuit leather and having covered a mere 41,120 miles from new, this TWR Sport XJ12 is highly original and an incredibly rare find. Tom Walkinshaw teamed up with Jaguar in the early 1980's and modified an XJS which took a 1st place victory in the European Touring Car Championship in 1984. A huge win for the Jaguar team at Le Mans in 1988 prompted the company to produce a road going special edition TWR version of the XJS. TWR then made a believed 30 or so TWR XJ12 Sedans which were all for the European market. Manufactured on October 1st, 1986 and distributed through Jaguar Deutschland, Frankfurt Germany, this 1987 example was purchased new by pro golfer John Woodhall who then imported the car into the states. The car lived in Scottsdale Arizona and southern CA all of its life. The Nimbus White paint is largely original and is very nice shape. There is some very lite checking on the roof and a few small stone chips in the front nose and lower bumper skirt but otherwise still retains a beautiful shine. The interior is all original and in beautiful condition. The leather is very soft to the touch with only minimal creasing to the drive seat bolster. All of the carpets and the headliner are in excellent original condition and the dash is free from any cracks or shrinkage. The wood is in beautiful condition free from any damage or cracks in the finish. The TWR tuned, mighty 5.3 liter V12 engine is a euro spec build pushing out more than 300hp. It starts right up and free from any smoking. The engine pulls beautifully through all of the gears with outstanding smooth power. A full service has just been performed including new plugs and wires, fluids, filters, a new transmission mount and a new power steering hose. About 500 miles ago, new rear pads and rotors, rebuilt calipers and new brake hoses, new subframe mounts. The AC was converted to 134 and a new receiver dryer replaced. All of the electronics in the car are functioning as designed including all the power windows and door locks, the AC is ice cold and the heater is very hot, the power sunroof and mirrors are functioning as well as the power antenna. All of the gauges are operating and appear to be reading correctly. All of the interior and exterior lights are functioning as designed. This is an incredible opportunity to acquire what is believed to be one of one or two in the United States and one of only 30 TWR XJ12 sedans ever made. There is absolutely no rust found anywhere in the body of this car or in the undercarriage. This very special TWR Sport comes with its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and a few receipts of past work done.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
