This 1980 Jaguar XJ6 was sold new at Bauer Jaguar in Orange, California and remained with the original owner until July 2017. Finished in Brazilia Brown over a tan leather interior, the seller describes it as a survivor with only 24k original miles. Power comes from a fuel-injected 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six paired to a three-speed automatic, and since the seller's acquisition in July of this year, the car has received a new set of tires, fuel system cleaning, fresh transmission and brake fluid, an air conditioning service, and more outlined below. This XJ6 passed a CA smog test five months ago and is now being offered at no reserve with service records dating back to new, original booklets, and a clear California title in the seller's name.
The original finish has been retained on the body, though the seller states that the car was stored in a carport from 2005 up to their acquisition earlier this year, consequently resulting in some sun damage in some areas. Some of the original shine has been revived with polishing and waxing, though large spots of flaking clearcoat and cracking remain evident.
New tires have been installed on the original 15″ wheels within the past six months and 500 miles.
The air-conditioning system has been converted to R134a and benefits from a recently rebuilt compressor and replacement dryer, though the expansion valve periodically sticks. 24k miles are shown on the odometer and are corroborated by the included service records.
With the exception of a recently installed headliner, the tan leather interior remains unrestored.
Power comes from a Bosch/Lucas fuel-injected 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six paired to a Borg Warner three-speed automatic. Approximately one month ago, the oil was changed and a tune-up was performed. Work performed to the fuel system consisted of cleaning both tanks, replacing the pump, and installing a new change-over solenoid with the addition of return valves.
A Borg-Warner three-speed model 66 automatic transmission sends power back to the independent rear, and recently received new fluid, along with the brake system. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the gallery below.
Service records and receipts from 1980 to 2005 are included in the sale.
