This 1989 Jaguar XJ12 Vanden Plas is a Canadian-market example that remained registered in British Columbia through 2019, and it was subsequently relocated to California. Powered by a 5.4-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, the car is finished in Silver Birch Metallic over Buckskin leather upholstery. Equipment includes 15″ alloy wheels, headlight wipers, an onboard computer, an AM/FM cassette stereo, and power windows, mirrors, and locks. The car was acquired by the seller in 2023, and service under current ownership is said to have included fluid changes and replacement of the fuel pressure regulator, fuel rail supply line, cooling fan motor, filters, and throttle linkage bushings. This Series III XJ12 shows 142k kilometers (~88k miles) and is now offered at no reserve in California with manufacturer’s literature, a service booklet, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Silver Birch Metallic and features 7″ low-beam H4 headlights with wipers as well as a sunroof, a power antenna, power-adjustable side mirrors, Vanden Plas badging, and polished dual exhaust finishers. A chip is present in the upper left portion of the windshield, and areas of rust are visible at the base of the rear window, in front of the left-rear wheel, behind the right-rear wheel, and on the lower rear valance. Additional photos of exterior imperfections are visible.
Silver-finished 15″ Pepperpot alloy wheels are wrapped in older 205/70 Michelin X Radial tires. The car is equipped with four-wheel independent suspension and power-assisted disc brakes at each corner. Imperfections are noted on the wheels, and cracks are visible in the tire sidewalls.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in Buckskin leather, and walnut veneer trim accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Additional appointments include an onboard computer, an AM/FM cassette stereo, power windows and locks, and cruise control. The seller reports that the air conditioning has been converted to run on R-134a refrigerant but does not blow cold, discoloration is visible at the edges of the dash trim, and the headliner is loose.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 260-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 142k kilometers (~88k miles), approximately 500 kilometers of which were added under current ownership. The seller reports that the horn is intermittent.
The 5.3-liter V12 features Lucas electronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 300 horsepower when new. Service in June 2023 is said to have included an oil change and replacement of the fuel pressure regulator, fuel rail supply line, cooling fan motor, fuel and air filters, and throttle linkage bushings. The car most recently passed the California emissions test in July 2023.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and limited-slip differential. The transmission is said to have been serviced in June 2023.
Manufacturer’s literature and a service booklet are included in the sale.
