This 1986 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas is finished in Cranberry Red over Doeskin leather upholstery and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. It has a power-operated sunroof, 15″ Kent alloy wheels, automatic climate control, cruise control, and an AM/FM cassette stereo as well as power windows and door locks. Work performed in 2023 included installing a rebuilt water pump assembly in addition to replacing the ignition amplifier, distributor cap, belts, and hoses. This XJ6 Vanden Plas is offered at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, a Jaguar Total Driving Experience cassette tape, an accident-free Carfax report, and Connecticut registration in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in Cranberry Red (CEE) with gold pinstriping, the car is also fitted with a power-operated sunroof, a “leaper” hood ornament, and polished dual exhaust outlets. A ding on the left rear door is viewable in the image gallery below along with paint chips around the body and areas of rust along the front windshield and rear window.

Factory 15″ Kent alloy wheels are wrapped in 215/70 Pirelli Cinturato P5 tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted four-wheel discs.

Doeskin leather (AEE) trims the seats and is complemented by woodgrain accents on the dashboard, center stack, and door panel inserts. The cabin is outfitted with automatic climate control, a digital trip computer, a tilt-adjustable steering column, and a factory AM/FM/cassette stereo as well as power windows, door locks, and mirrors. There is a crack in the dashboard woodgrain trim. The headliner is sagging at the rear and has been pinned.

Instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplementary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 15k miles, approximately 217 of which were added during current ownership. The mileage is indicated as 60k in a March 2010 Carfax report entry, and a “Mileage Inconsistency” is subsequently noted in April 2023. Total mileage is unknown.

The fuel-injected 4.2L inline-six was factory rated at 176 horsepower and 219 lb-ft of torque. Work performed in March 2023 included installing a rebuilt water pump assembly along with a coolant flush and replacing belts and hoses. The ignition amplifier and distributor cap were also replaced. The heater valve is leaking and the seller recommends that the heater hoses be replaced.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The transmission mount was replaced in 2022.
