Ad reads:

"When you think of Jaguar, this car automatically comes to mind! I am offering this car to the highest bidder with a very low reserve. I currently have two Jags and need to part with one. This is a great, great car that has been well-cared for and should go to a proper home.

Mechanically, the car is very strong. In the past two years, I've only put just over 2,000 miles on it (mainly from Jaguar Club tours). The car rides and drives like the champ that it is. As I see it, the Jag only has two known needs. First, it needs a new wiper motor which you can get here on eBay for around $50 (I've not had to worry much as this car has not seen rain or snow since I've owned it). Second, the headliner could use retacking (it looks fine but if you're a perfectionist like I am you'll take care of this (expense is quite minimal). I am technically the second owner of the car (the car came from the same family in the Columbus, OH area). Some of the enhancements/replacements made during my ownership include:

* Oxygen sensors (both)
* Water pump
* Thermostat
* All belts
* Front shock absorbers
* Tie-rod ends

As for cosmetics, the body is truly in great shape. There really isn't much rust worth mentioning outside of a couple very small spots (in fact my newer VDP has more rust). There are no fills and no dents that would make you think twice. The paint is original and very clean (I have not given it a waxing this year). The interior is equally exceptional with clean door jams and fine leather. The wood on the dash has some cracking in the enamel and there is some wood loss on the shift box. All gauges work appropriately.

Based on what I've seen at shows and elsewhere, I would have to say this is one of the more cleaner, pampered classic VDP's. This car gets many compliments wherever I go. It is a delightful cruiser with lots to offer if you are the high bidder.

I have set a very modest reserve to protect my asset. Please ask ALL QUESTIONS PRIOR TO BIDDING. The car is located in Elyria, OH (10 minutes west of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Transaction must be completed within 5 days after the close of the auction. I will accept cash and/or certified check only please.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
