Car to be at auction 1/14
www.russoandsteele.com/collector-car/1983-Jaguar-XJ-6-Resto-Mod/66012
Auction description:
Scottsdale 2014
Consignment # 7257
VIN: SAJAV1349DC365230
Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale WITHOUT RESERVE and SOLD to the highest bidder January 15th-19th at Russo and Steele's 14th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction. Please contact us for more information.
The car was located by its current and second owner at Mercedes-Benz of Escondido, where an elderly woman who had put 103,000 miles on the car during her 10-year ownership traded it in 1993.
While stately and smooth, the standard six-cylinder engine was replaced with a 425-hp, 355 cu. in. small-block Chevrolet that was heavily fortified for high performance duty. All running gear has been upgraded accordingly, and the interior has been refurbished and fitted with new leather seating surfaces and a 200-watt sound system with Bluetooth and MP3 connectivity.
The engine - which was installed less than 2,000 miles ago - was built by Duncan Michael of Detroit street racing fame. It boasts heavily massaged Dart Sportsman high-performance cylinder heads, MSD billet distributor, Digital 6 ignition box, reverse-flow cooling system and custom high-volume aluminum radiator by Rodney Red, a Weiand manifold topped by a Holley "H-P 925 by The Carburetor Shop" carb with vacuum secondaries, Melling oil pump, Crane roller valvetrain, Ross pistons, Total Seal rings, and more. Just in case, a hidden NOS Top Shot nitrous-oxide system with polished trunk-mounted tank, purge valve and stealth on/off switch currently adds 100 hp but it is adjustable up to 200 hp if desired.
The drivetrain includes a heavy-duty TCI 200R4 four-speed automatic transmission with 3,000-stall converter, a fully rebuilt heavy-duty driveshaft, and a rebuilt Jaguar rear end with special heavy-duty Posi unit and custom powder-coated cage. Other features include oversized aftermarket brake rotors and pads, a full 3-inch stainless steel exhaust system with Borla mufflers. Underpinnings include a super-heavy-duty rear sway bar, heavy-duty shocks and spring, and a painted and powder-coated undercarriage. It may look innocent, but it does not sound all that innocent! Nor does it run like a "normal" XJ-6. Far from it! Even without the rarely used NOS system engaged, be sure you have it pointed straight when you give it full throttle.
The interior has been completely redone with softer-than-original but color-matched glove leather, a full complement of Stewart-Warner gauges, and a 200-watt Infinity/Sony/Kenwood sound system with full connectivity. TLC Auto Body of San Marcos performed the bodywork and applied the Jaguar Steel Blue Metallic paintwork. A new headliner, new windshield, titanium glass tint, and 18-inch Jaguar XK-8 wheels with a fresh set of Pirellis complete this fantastic package.
A serious street machine with enough room for the whole family - the rear seat area is very spacious - this Jaguar resto-mod is guaranteed to attract attention and win respect wherever you travel. And while some purists are aghast when the hood is raised, others smile approvingly, as when this car was awarded third place overall at San Diego's prestigious "British Car Day" in 2006. A full folder of receipts totalling over $35,000 not counting the cost of the car itself accompanies this vehicle.

This 1983 Jaguar XJ6 has been modified with a 6.2-liter V8, a six-speed manual transmission, and a limited-slip differential. The car is finished in Cobalt Blue over Biscuit leather upholstery, and additional equipment includes power steering and four-wheel disc brakes, an aluminum radiator, ceramic-coated headers, a stainless-steel dual exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers, 15″ basketweave wheels, a Sikky shifter, Autometer instrumentation, a MOMO steering wheel, and an aftermarket stereo. This XJ6 is now offered by the selling dealer with manufacturer’s literature, spare parts, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title.
The car was finished from the factory in Cobalt Blue and was repainted under prior ownership. Exterior details include a sunroof, quad headlights, a Leaper hood ornament, dual fuel fillers, and dual exhaust outlets. A paint crack around the rear window and rust in the driver-side door jamb were repaired in preparation for the sale.
The 15″ basketweave wheels are mounted with older 215/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, and a full-size spare is located in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear units. A heavy-duty rear sway bar is fitted along with larger brake rotors.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in Biscuit leather, and wood trim adorns the dashboard and center console. Additional appointments include a Sikky shifter with a wood knob, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, cruise control, and a Kenwood head unit with Bluetooth wired to Infinity speakers as well as an amplifier in the trunk.
The three-spoke MOMO steering wheel frames Autometer instrumentation, consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The digital odometer shows 3,300 miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 6.2-liter Gen V LT1 V8 was installed under prior ownership and features ceramic-coated headers that flows to a 3″ stainless-steel dual exhaust system with Magnaflow mufflers. A high-capacity aluminum radiator has been installed, along with a chrome alternator, cold air intake, and air conditioning compressor.
The car was fitted with an 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission in 2019 and a six-speed manual transmission has since been installed in its place. The car is reportedly equipped with a limited-slip differential and a heavy-duty driveshaft.
