Ebay item 6/30/16
www.johnscars.com/) and wanted me to consider the engine conversion being I wanted a affordable and dependable daily driver.
At the time of restoration, the original engine type (1986, 6 cylinder, fuel injected 258 CID) was old technology and Jaguar had not yet built a new type engine. The options for the engine was either to rebuild the original engine or find another rebuilt. The third option, putting a new 350, V8 crate motor was considered. John's Cars Conversions had 20 years of experience at the time of my restoration. Prior to the decision, I completed many interviews with other owners who had made the same decision with Johns Cars for their CATS. I decided to convert the engine.
The car and I have been members of the local Suncoast Jaguar Club as Display class and SHECAT1 is on the club brochure. She has also been featured in several magazines involved with my business. My reason for offering the car is the reposition of assets and because she deserves to be shown and driven which I am not doing presently. My husband passed away in 2012 and the interest of classic cars without him is not the same. SHECAT1 comes with the original boot tools and maintenance hand book as well as the dealer original bill of sell. She has an updated stereo and security system and wears Parelli tires. I have documentation of all restoration costs and a picture history of the phases of restoration at Special Cars Only. Owning SHECAT1 for the auction price and less than $120K will be a great monetary gain for someone. The monetary gain is a huge plus to her purchase but so are the facts of few XJ6's in good condition on the road AND she turns heads! Even if one decided to return the engine and transmission back to the original, there is still a monetary gain in the body and interior quality and cost of that part of the restoration. I would like the vanity plate (SHECAT1) to stay with the car if agreed. This is a special car to drive daily or own as a collector. The wife of any of you guys would love the car too!

Car returns to ebay 11/30/20
www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Jaguar-XJ6-Series-III/264956014279
Opening bid US $15,000, no reserve, no bids 6 days left in auction, seller arcturus401, 48k miles, car now said to be in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, same photos.
Seller's description:
This is a ‘no-expense spared’ restoration and award-winning show car. Original owner purchased the car new. After the car aged, owner had it extensively restored by Special Cars Only, in Oldsmar, FL. SPC is well-known for their high-end restorations, having won 2 best of class awards at Amelia Island. About the restoration, the seller said, “Back then I had an open checkbook, wanted the car to be better than new and didn’t care what it cost. Back then I had more money than common sense.” Just the paint job was $15K.
The entire car was restored including every piece of walnut, a complete new leather interior, new headliner, new rugs, new wheels, etc. For increased performance and reliability, it was fitted with a new GM 350 crate engine and new TH350 3-spd automatic trans. The 350 gives the car more horsepower and torque, as well as increased reliability.
Many photos were taken during the restoration process and will be provided to the new owner. Original window sticker and owner’s manual also go with car. Over $75K was invested for the restoration. Not a spot of rust anywhere and cruises and shifts smoothly.
I’m the second owner and since purchasing, its had the brakes redone, new high-performance shocks, new battery, new distributor, and had the front end lowered by 1 1/4". A new exhaust system was installed including dual pipes with an ‘X” configuration and Jaguar silencers and mufflers (no cats). It sounds like a stock XJ6, which was the goal. The engine compartment has recently been tidied-up and is hard to tell from factory. This work was done within the last year. The odometer reads high miles, but the engine, trans, and restoration have about 49k miles on them.
It’s the nicest Series III XJ6 I’ve seen. The photos speak for the car. SC Title in hand. Serious buyers are encouraged to view the car in person or we can do a video chat walk-around BEFORE the sale. Please don't bid if you're not absolutely certain you want the car and are able to close the deal.

This 1986 Jaguar XJ6 was initially delivered to Crown Sportscar Center in St. Petersburg, Florida, and it was refurbished cosmetically by Special Cars Only of Oldsmar, Florida, in the early 2000s. It is finished in black over Savile Grey leather, and during prior ownership it was modified with the installation of a Chevrolet-sourced 5.7-liter V8 paired with a three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Equipment includes a sunroof, a Sony CD stereo, automatic climate control, power accessories, and factory 15″ mesh-style wheels. The seller acquired the car in 2019, and subsequent maintenance included an oil and filter change and service to the air-conditioning system, along with replacement of the fuel pump, belts, rear shock absorbers, and ignition and exhaust components. This XJ is now offered with photos documenting the refurbishment, factory literature, a window sticker, recent records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name.
Photographs that accompany the sale show the paint being removed prior to the body being refinished in its factory black (PDE). The car also features dual exhaust outlets, twin chrome fuel caps, refinished bumpers, and pinstripes.
Silver-finished 15″ mesh-style wheels wear 215/70 Pirelli P4000 tires, and a full-size spare is located under the trunk floor. The front of the car is lowered, and replacement Gabriel gas shocks were installed in the rear during the seller’s ownership.
The Savile Grey leather was reportedly replaced during the refurbishment in 2000, along with the carpet, headliner, and wood trim. Amenities include automatic climate control, power accessories, and a Sony CD stereo with a remote ten-disc CD changer and speakers mounted in each door. The air-conditioning compressor was replaced and the system was serviced in preparation for the sale, and it has an aftermarket toggle switch in the glove box to isolate the compressor. The seller notes that the sunroof and windshield wipers do not function properly.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a speedometer, tachometer, and additional gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 216k miles, approximately 1,500 miles of which were added during current ownership.
The factory inline-six engine and transmission were replaced during previous ownership with a 5.7-liter V8 and GM TH350 three-speed automatic transmission reportedly installed by Special Cars Only using a John’s Cars conversion kit. Modifications include an Edelbrock intake manifold, a 650-cfm Holley 4175 carburetor, and an HEI distributor. Recent service included an oil change, a transmission fluid flush, and rebuilding the carburetor, along with the replacement of the fuel pump, drive belts, and ignition components.
The car features a custom dual exhaust system with Jaguar mufflers.
The window sticker lists colors and equipment along with a total price of $32,600. Manufacturer’s literature, a Jaguar-branded bag, recent service records, and an album of photos documenting the restoration are included with the sale.
