Seller's description:
1983 Jaguar XJ6 with a Professionally installed TPI Fuel Injected Factory Chevrolet 350 Cubic Inch pushrod crate engine.
This engine is factory rated at 300 HP and was installed by "John's Cars" in Dallas Texas.
This Jaguar has been in the family since 03/09/1988 and has always been garaged kept. It was my Mother's car for many years but at this point my parent's do not drive anymore due to their age and it is time to let her go. The Jag is in great shape and a beautiful car. Plus, the Chevrolet Drivetrain has given us no costly or frequent repairs.
The V8 conversion was done by John's Cars from Dallas Texas on 07/05/95.
The engine is a new GM Factory long block rated at 300HP P/N 12355345 - bought in 1995.
There is no odometer reading I could find for when we purchased the car but I believe there is not more than 50,000 miles on this Chevrolet engine combo.
The TPI Fuel Injection system was from a 350 motor, not a 305.
The transmission is a TH700R4 Overdrive automatic.
After about 5 years with the new Chevy motor we had a smaller camshaft installed in the engine because my Mother thought the car vibrated too much at idle...!!! HaHa.... The new smaller cam allows for a smoother idle but it is probably only producing 225 HP now because of it being a less aggressive camshaft.
The interior is a 9 out of 10. It was redone at some point, all leather.
The paint is a single stage repaint around 10 years ago - an 8 out of 10.
This engine is not loud, it uses cast iron manifolds and a full factory dual exhaust.
Everything works on the car - Power Windows, Power Sunroof, Air Conditioning and Heat. All factory dash gauges work as well.
Cons:
When the AC is turned on there is a small squeak in the dash from the blower motor. This will probably go away with more use, it did not normally do that.
There is a small part on the dash cover that is cracked by a vent, hard to even see.
The fuel injection is smooth at light throttle and full throttle but does have a little surge when going to mid throttle. It has done this since we have owned it. It was never bad enough for us to have it "tuned" to fix it.
If you stop the engine while it is warm and let it sit for a minute, then restart it, it will take like 5 seconds to restart. When cold it starts fine.
There are 2 dings on the car and some light rust bubbles by the bottom of the side windows.
We get lots of compliments on the car when we take it out and with the factory cam it was a pretty fast car. I personally have 4 cars or I would keep it. I just don't have anywhere to store it. This car is in great condition and I want it to go to a good home.
