Lot #108176

This 1987 Jaguar XJ6 has remained registered in Missouri since new and was acquired by the current owner in March 1995. The car is finished in metallic gray over black leather upholstery and is powered by a 4.2L inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15″ alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a digital trip computer, automatic climate control, cruise control, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. This Series XJ6 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a tool kit, a Carfax report, and a clean Missouri title in the owner’s name.

The car is finished in metallic gray and features quad headlights, bright window trim and bumper accents, and dual exhaust outlets. The Carfax report notes collision damage in November 1987, and that the vehicle was “declared a total loss by an insurance company.” Paintwork is said to have been performed on the bottom of the left-front door and the front-left fender. The sunroof is inoperative, the power antenna does not retract, paint chips are visible on the front fenders, the left-front rocker panel is dented, rust is noted under the windshield frame and on the left-rear door, bubbles and cracks in the paint are shown on various body panels, and additional photos of the paint and trim condition are viewable in the gallery below.

Factory 15″ Kent alloy wheels feature Jaguar center caps and are mounted with 215/70 Milestar MS70 All-Season tires, while a full-size spare is stored in the trunk. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs at all four corners. Curb rash can be seen on all four wheels and corrosion is visible on the right-rear wheel.

The cabin features front bucket seats upholstered in black leather upholstery, while wood veneer accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Amenities include automatic climate control, cruise control, a digital trip computer, power windows, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. The wood trim on the dashboard and center console is cracked in various areas, and the upholstery on the center console lid is cracked.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, and gauges for oil pressure, voltage, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The seller notes that the fuel gauge does not read above half when the tank is full. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 78k miles, approximately 53k of which were added under current ownership. The Carfax report lists a mileage inconsistency in April 2021, though the report indicates that the entry may be a clerical error.

The fuel-injected 4.2L inline-six was factory rated at 176 horsepower and 219 lb-ft of torque. An oil leak is noted, and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Rust has perforated the floorboard near the left rocker panel.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
