No Reserve: 1985 Jaguar XJ6 Series III Current Bid: $3,500 Ends In: 5 days
Sellers description:
This 1985 Jaguar XJ6 is finished in Cirrus Grey over Mulberry leather and has 76,701 miles on its original 4.2L engine and Borg Warner 3-speed automatic transmission. Described as very well cared for, the car was treated to a high-quality repaint around 10 years ago and is sold with good service records going back to 2000. The car has been driven about 2000 miles per year for the past 10 years and is said to be in good condition throughout. The previous owner was a collector who traded the car in to the selling dealer for a new XJ. It is sold with a clean New York title.
Outside, the Cirrus Grey paint still looks good and the car looks stock riding on factory alloy wheels wrapped in matching Pirelli P4000 tires.
Tight panel gaps and the condition of the chrome/rubber trim show that this XJ6 has been well-kept. The body is straight and free of major dings or scratches. Noted cosmetic issues are several smaller bubbles in the paint at the base of the A-pillar and a scuff on the left-front bumper.
The Mulberry interior is clean throughout, and features a crack-free wood dash, instrumentation in working order, and a functional electric sunroof. A CD stereo head unit has been added and the cigar lighter has been removed.
The rear bench seat with fold-down armrest is in similarly clean condition. Carpets and interior trim look tidy for the age and mileage. Note the large amount of legroom afforded by the XJ.
The 4.2L inline-6 engine and 3-speed Borg Warner 66 automatic transmission remain original to the car and are said to be in good working order. The seller notes that this car has received preventative maintenance including:
2004: VC gasket, front/rear struts, engine belts, upper/lower ball-joints, upper control arm bushings, and catalytic converter replaced
2005: Fuel tank valves, fuel changeover valves, and head gaskets replaced
2006: Valve adjustment and tappet repair
2007: Rear brake rotors replaced and calipers rebuilt
2009: Steering rack bushings, oil cooler hoses, thermostat and coolant hoses replaced
2012: New starter motor
Service records going back 16 years to 2000 are included in the sale. They show a history of routine and preventative maintenance. The car is said to run and drive well, though the flywheel is noisy during startup.
Underneath, the car is free of any major rust or corrosion. There are many XJ6s on the market but a clean example in good colors with documented maintenance history is increasingly harder to find.
