This 1985 Jaguar XJ6 has been registered in California for over three decades and was acquired by the seller in 2021. The car is finished in Cobalt Blue Metallic over Isis Blue leather upholstery and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated sunroof, 15″ alloy wheels, cruise control, power windows, and an aftermarket Sony CD/cassette stereo. Service completed under current ownership is said to have included reconditioning the cylinder head, overhauling the cooling, fuel, and ignition systems, and replacing the engine bay wiring harnesses, alternator, battery, catalytic converters, engine hoses, driveline mounts, and various gaskets and seals. This XJ6 shows 111k miles and is offered with manufacturer’s literature, a maintenance log, service records, spare parts, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The body is finished in Cobalt Blue Metallic (JDM) with white pinstripes. Additional exterior details include a power-operated sunroof, twin fuel filler caps, and impact bumpers with bright trim. The trunk lid latch, windscreen seal, headlamp wiring, and various fuses were reportedly replaced under current ownership. Blemishes include a dent in the front passenger door, paint scuffs near the driver’s side headlight, and a crack in the windscreen as well as corrosion near the front and rear windscreen trim. The seller states that the wipers function at one speed and the antenna is cracked in the middle, which prevents full extension.

Factory 15″ alloy wheels are wrapped in 225/60 Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring A/S tires that were mounted in December 2021. Work performed under current ownership reportedly included flushing the brake fluid, replacing the brake pads and the front brake rotors, and greasing the wheel bearings and rear suspension components.

The cabin features Isis Blue leather seats with a color-coordinated center console and door panels. Amenities include cruise control, an onboard computer, power windows and door locks, and an aftermarket Sony AM/FM cassette stereo with a trunk-mounted 10-disc CD changer. Photos show cracks in the woodgrain trim, torn fabric on the sunroof cover, damaged weatherstripping in the driver-side door jamb, and worn leather on the center armrest. Various trim pieces were reportedly replaced under current ownership. The seller states that the air conditioning does not blow cold and notes fraying fabric along the rear headliner support.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit mechanical odometer indicates 111k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. The wiring for the horn was reportedly repaired in 2022.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features Lucas-Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection. Work performed under current ownership is documented in a maintenance log provided in the gallery below and is said to have included installing an aftermarket cooling fan, fitting a capacitor to the airflow meter, overhauling the cylinder head and changing the head gasket, reconditioning the cooling, fuel, and ignition systems, and replacing the following components:

Engine wiring harnesses

Catalytic converters

Alternator

Battery

Starter relay

Intake manifold gaskets

Exhaust gaskets

Engine mounts

Various hoses

Accessory belts

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Maintenance carried out under current ownership reportedly included replacing the transmission mounts, spring bushings, and pan gasket as well as changing the transmission fluid, transmission filter, and differential fluid. The seller notes seepage at the rear main seal and the power steering shaft input seal.

Manufacturer’s literature, service records, and spare parts will accompany the car.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in California from its first entry in July 1990. A gap in entries is visible from July 1994 to April 1999. The car was designated a gross polluter in California in December 2021, March 2022, April 2022, and May 2022, and it has since passed a California emissions test performed in September 2022.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
