This 1982 Jaguar XJ6 was purchased new by the current owner in July 1982 from Reedman Automobiles Inc. in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and it now shows 35k miles following history in New York. It is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Damson Red over Biscuit leather upholstery. Features include 15″ Kent vented alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a sunroof, a power antenna, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control, cruise control, and power windows. This Series III XJ6 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner at no reserve with a window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New York title in the owner’s name.
The Pininfarina-styled bodywork is finished in Damson Red (CDG) and features a power sunroof, a power antenna, power-adjustable side mirrors, bright trim, and dual exhaust outlets. Rust is seen in the lower body panels, window surrounds, splash panels, and trunk lid. The seller notes previous paintwork.
The 15″ Kent vented alloy wheels are mounted with 205/70 Michelin Defender tires, and braking is handled by ventilated front and solid inboard rear discs. The seller notes that the wheel bearings need to be adjusted, the rear control arm bushings are worn, and a knock in the left-front sway bar links.
The seating surfaces are trimmed in Biscuit leather (ADE), while burl walnut wood accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Interior equipment includes a power-adjustable driver’s seat, an AM/FM/cassette stereo, automatic climate control, cruise control, a heated rear window, and power windows and locks. The heater does not work and the driver-seat outer bolster shows wear.
The two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as gauges for oil pressure, voltage, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 35k miles, all of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory rated at 205 horsepower and 231 lb-ft of torque. The valve cover is leaking and the seller notes oil on the air conditioning compressor, bell housing, and oil pan bracket. The starter was rebuilt in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a BorgWarner three-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes fluid leaks on the transmission pan and oil on the rear differential. Rust on underbody panels is shown in photos below.
The window sticker shows initial delivery to Reedman Automobiles Inc. in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and lists factory equipment, colors, and a total amount of $29,820.
