This is a beautiful example of this - the most sought after Jaguar saloon - 2 door XJ coupe and it has only covered 49000 miles from new.
It was purchased in 1981 by the present owner and vendor when it had covered only 22265 miles and since then has only been used for occasional summer trips. It is finished in Signal Red with Beige leather interior and the automatic gearbox option and it is in lovely unrestored condition. It is being sold with its original purchase invoice, most of its M.O.T.'s since 1980 and a copy of the invoice for work carried out 4000 miles ago for a total of £2300. This involved an overhaul of the steering, suspension, final drive, sub-frame and the braking system.
It is currently tested and taxed and ready to drive away and will prove to be a delight for its new owner.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
