This late entered, rare and desirable 1976 Jaguar XJ12 coupe is coming from Kent to today's sale. It is described as being in excellent condition throughout with the last owner having kept the car for the last fifteen years.

We are informed that the mileage of 70000 miles is believed to be genuine from new and it has benefitted from a recent respray, the chrome to the front and rear bumpers and the coach mouldings has been renewed, the kent alloys have been refurbished, a new carpet set has been fitted and new front wings and sills were all done about three years ago.

We are informed that it drives very well with everything working and that over £2800 has been spent in the last two months.

Please note: The work has been carried out in the last two months - not years as stated.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
