Auction description:
Lot number 89
Hammer value £9,000
Description Daimler Double Six S1 Vanden Plas
Registration YWX 551L
Year 1973
Colour Coral Pink
Engine size 5,343 cc
Chassis No. 2B1301BW
Engine No. 7P4483SA
Documents V5C; MOT April 2017; 21 old MOTs; service invoices; handbooks; Heritage Certificate

As the accompanying Heritage Certificate confirms, this Double Six Vanden Plas was built at the end of May 1973 and supplied via the Leeds Automobile Centre to first owner Kingsley Construction Ltd of Yeadon. Finished in Coral pink with a Chamois leather interior, it has covered only 64,900 miles to date with 21 old MOTs back to 1982 (at 47,358 miles) and many service invoices to support this total.

In 1999 at 61,700 miles the car was treated to a full body restoration costing over £8,000 with various bills showing ongoing maintenance since. Recently fitted with a stainless steel exhaust system, a new headlining and new floor panels, the car remains in very good order throughout and has had just one owner for most of the last 20 years. Said to drive as it should, it has an MOT until April 2017 with no advisories recorded.

A rare car in a most striking colour scheme from long-term ownership and with a reassuringly good history file, this luxurious classic saloon ticks all the right boxes and is sure to be of interest to any Jaguar/Daimler collector.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
