This Jaguar XJ6 was produced on January 31, 1972 and is finished in black over brown leather. The car is said to have remained with the same family from new until it was acquired by the seller in November 2019 after reportedly being stored in a barn since 1988. Power is supplied by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and service performed during current ownership includes overhauls for the carburetors, radiator, and brake master cylinder as well as replacement of the fuel tanks, sending units, coolant and power steering hoses, and drive belts. This XJ is offered at no reserve with an owner’s manual, service records, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in black and features chrome bumpers with overriders, grilles, headlight surrounds, door handles, and window trim. An exterior detail and a polish were completed shortly after the seller’s acquisition.
Polished 15″ steel wheels wear Jaguar hubcaps and Pirelli P4 tires that show date codes from 2019. The brake master cylinder was overhauled, brake lines were replaced, and an alignment was performed in preparation for the sale.
The cabin is upholstered in Cinnamon leather and the contrasting black dash is accented with wood veneer. Amenities include reclining front seats, electric windows, a heater, a defrosted rear window, and a period Pioneer cassette player.
The black urethane-coated steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer. A dash-mounted pod houses gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and a clock. The five-digit odometer shows just over 69k miles. Total mileage is unknown. A speedometer repair has been completed during current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory-rated at 157 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque when new. Work performed November 2019 included the following services:
Overhauled both carburetors
Recored radiator
Replaced the dual fuel tanks, fuel level sending units, and fuel pumps
Replaced low and high pressure power steering hoses
Replaced oil pressure sending unit
Replaced coolant temperature sending unit
Replaced coolant pump and installed an 82°C thermostat
Replaced rubber coolant hoses and drive belts
Replaced emissions/air pump
Replaced spark plugs and wires
Replaced battery
Replaced thermostat with 160 Degrees (74C) model
Replaced cooling fan viscous clutch
Completed an oil and filter change
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed Borg Warner Model 12 automatic transmission. The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate displays the original colors, production and dispatch dates, and drivetrain numbers.
