Ebay item 12/13/14
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XJ6-1971-1971-jaguar-xj-6-series-1-very-rare-color-owned ...
Opening bid US $5,000, no reserve, no bids 6 days left in auction. 143k miles.

Sellers description:
This may be the one of the best Series One unrestored Jaguar XJ6 available, it runs and drives great. However it is almost 44 years old and I have listed the condition below. This would be a excellent car to restore or just keep as is as a true survivor. I have listed all defects that I am aware of below. If you have any questions please contact me.

This auction is for a 1971 Jaguar XJ6 that I have owned since 1978. This is a NO Rust car that is originally from San Jose CA and has never left the state. It now resides in Palm Desert CA. Overall this cars looks as good as can be expected for a car that has not been restored. Since I have owned this car it has always been garaged, I don't think it spent more then 10 nights outside since I purchased it back in 1978.

Car has original paint, chrome and interior.

Paint shows very well for age but there are several chips mostly on the hood and front left fender. There is also some crazing on the hood and the lower portion of the front right hand door. About 12 years ago someone backed into it and put a small golf ball size dent in the front R/H fender just above the parking light. This was fixed immediately and the body work is perfect, but when the body shop (a Jaguar Specialty shop in San Jose) matched the paint they clear coated the entire fender over the original paint, since this car was not originally clear coated finish on this fender shines slightly more then the surrounding finish.

Chrome is all original and is all in very good condition, no rust, no pitting and very shinny,

Interior is 100% original with the exception that I had a new headliner installed about 30 years ago, this headliner is now starting to sag a little as shown in the pictures but still looks presentable. The leather seats are original and in very good condition for their age, there is some wear on the drivers seat back as shown in the pictures. Carpets are original and are in very good condition with just slight wear.

All Instruments work with the exception of the clock.

Engine is very strong and has had a recent valve job along with both carburetors rebuilt a couple of years ago and less then 1000 miles ago. Engine does not smoke, has good oil pressure, does not run hot and has only very minor oil leaks. When I did the valve job I removed the duplex intake (smog) manifold along with the air filter and replaced it with a straight non smog manifold and air filter I retained the original manifold along with the air filter and it goes with the car.

Transmission is a three speed automatic Borg Warner model 12 and shifts very well.

Rear end differential has a slow oil leak and will eventually need to be resealed. It doesn't make any unusual noises but will need to be resealed at some point. The rear shocks also need to be replaced, which I have and will be included uninstalled with the car.

All four mufflers replaced within the last few years and have less then 1000 miles.

Power rack and pinion steering leaks a little not too bad, but should be resealed eventually. The two mounting bushings for the steering rack are worn and need replacement this causes a little play in the steering.

Air conditioning does not work because it needs new hoses. currently one hose is removed, as I didn't reinstall it after the valve job because I was going to install a replacement which I never got around to.

Parking brake works but the ratchet on the handle no longer works so it will not stay engaged, this is s simple fix.

Rubber seal that go around the front and rear windshields are dry and could use replacement.

Tires have excellent tread and no cracks, however they are about 25 years old.
