Ebay item 4/12/19
www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Jaguar-XJ6-XJ-6/163644925058
Opening bid $4,900, no reserve, no bids 9 days left in auction, seller zaceca, 131k miles.

Seller's description:
Time to let go of my car collection. This is a good unmolested, elegant 1971 series 1 Jaguar XJ6 in the extremely rare factory Willow green color with Suede green leather interior as shown. It is an original matching numbers car that has had only two owners before me and has been in South Carolina all of it's life, last driven on the road in 1999. A good solid classic that can use some relatively easy work to get it in driveable condition, as it has sat unattended since that time. The 2nd owner bought the car from the original owner in 1983 and had the engine and transmission completely rebuilt - for which I have the receipts. Since then it has only been driven for about 25,000 miles and runs perfectly. Factory equipped with automatic transmission, power steering, air conditioning, power windows, radio, power antenna.

ENGINE:
The original matching numbers engine was completely rebuilt about 25,000 miles ago and starts and runs perfectly with the ignition key. The rebuilding receipts go with the car. It runs like new with no smoke, no noises and excellent oil pressure. The 2nd owner said he recently put one new fuel tank and fuel pump in but we elected to get it running on an external fuel tank. The original fuel system/lines may need cleaning out from sitting for so long - then again, it may not because all we did was connected the main fuel line to the aux fuel tank and it started right up - carburetors function perfectly and do not need anything.

TRANSMISSION:
The original matching numbers automatic transmission was completely rebuilt and has about 25,000 miles on it - it works perfectly. The rebuilding receipts go with the car.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT:
Excellent, straight, original paint, solid. No accident damage, rust or other issues anywhere.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT:
Good, original paint. Very solid with the exception of a few easily repairable rust holes at the very bottom where the spare fastening stud is attached.

BODY PANELS, SHEET METAL:
Solid metal with the exception of some easily fixable small rust through in isolated areas on the floors developed from sitting water on the carpets. Good solid chassis. Car had a minor rear fender bender years ago which damaged the trunk lid in the lip area and major rust through has developed in the lip itself. Trunk opens and closed solidly but the lip needs repair - or just replace the trunk lid - they are easily available and cheap. The false bottom under the spare tire area also has some rust holes as shown. This is easy access flat sheet metal which only covers the spare tire bottom and is easily repaired. The rest of the car is very solid - the rocker panels are even solid. All of the door bottoms and fender bottoms don't have any rust. Minor surface rust in isolated small areas. Ask me why I don't latch down hoods (bonnets) anymore. It may latch (unlatch) fine, may not.

EXTERIOR BODY PARTS:
Chrome and stainless trim is all original and still in good useable condition. Some stainless window trim is off but is included.

INTERIOR/UPHOLSTERY:
The green leather interior is still all factory original needing redoing. The leather is dry and coming apart. The original carpeting is the same. Door panels and wood trim are original and still in good useable condition. The original headliner is solid and in excellent condition.

DASH AREA:
All original and nice. Tachometer, Speedometer, oil pressure gauge, ammeter - battery gauge, water temperature gauge, panel lights, all external lights, windshield washer, heater fan, fuel tank switch, ignition switch, dip switch, passing switch, air conditioning switch and fan, generator, idiot lights all work and are in good condition. All rocker switches are good and functional. fuel gauge untested - may or may not work. Radio works but will need new speakers. The power antenna is intact but have not seen it come up when the radio is turned on. Clock, horns and windshield wipers do not work. Manual choke will need a new cable. Speedometer shows 131632 and is probably correct.

ELECTRICAL:
All original and in excellent condition. Nothing ripped out, jumpered, repaired or rodent eaten. All wiring and harnesses are very good. All lights, turn signals, both fuel pumps, generator work fine. All power windows work well, up and down. There is no battery - a battery is not included with the sale.

GLASS:
All glass is factory original and in excellent undamaged condition with the exception of the windshield, which is cracked. All power windows work up and down and all power window switches are good and fully functional.

CHASSIS:
The underside is very good, straight, original, complete and undamaged from front to back.

WHEELS/TIRES:
All 5 original chrome wheels are in very good condition. Tires are very good but are old.

SUSPENSION/BRAKES/STEERING:
All complete, original and untouched. The steering works fine but the power steering unit leaks fluid. Nothing was done to get the brakes up to working order. It has a hard pedal and there is brake fluid in the reservoir but the pedal had not been pushed on - ask me why I don't do that anymore. So figure there are no brakes -

EXHAUST:
Manifolds and a complete exhaust system are intact and look solid and it sounds very nice with no leaks.

FACTORY ID PLATES:
The original ID plate in the engine compartment is excellent and unmodified. The vehicle serial number is 1L57751BW. The engine number is 7L24305S. These are the correct matching original factory numbers.

PAPERWORK:
The car does have a clear proper South Carolina title. Comes with a lot of receipts from 1983 and forward. Engine and transmission overhaul receipts included.

REVIEW:
An elegant grand touring series 1 Jaguar XJ6 that is considered by many to be the most desirable of all the Jaguar XJ6 series cars. The color combination of Willow green with Suede green leather interior is especially rare and desirable. Not much would be required to get it on the road again.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
