Car to return to auction 2/17
www.barons-auctions.com/auction_details.php
Above auction Lot 352 1969 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 SWB Sold for €5.040
Auction description:
This Jaguar Series One has recently been imported from Italy, where it is believed to have been dry stored for many years. It appears to have had a partial restoration at some time in the past, but the overall originality of the car has been preserved. The car is an early 'chrome dial' example presented in Dark British Racing Green with Biscuit leather interior. It is fitted with steel wheels with chrome hub caps and wheel trims. Unfortunately, there is no history with the car to warrant the incredibly low mileage of 21,000 km, and there is also no detailed record of ownership as the car was purchased from the Italian Government (with 'Clean Title'). The car comes complete with NOVA Documentation but will require an MOT and to be registered prior to use on UK roads.
A small amount of recommissioning has been undertaken recently to include cleaning through the fuel system, a partial overhaul of the carburettors, a new fuel tank and pump, the cooling system has been flushed through,a new water pump fitted, and a new battery. The engine runs sweetly and has excellent hot & cold oil pressure, and the car drives and stops well. The interior is in general good order, the leather seats have minor age related wear, and the electric windows work. The factory fitted air conditioning system has not been tested as the switch is broken. The original carpets have been protected by factory fitted over mats so are in pristine condition, as are the wood door cappings.
In summary, a solid and mostly original car which will make an ideal running restoration project for a competent DIY mechanic and, with rising prices, an assured asset.
Guide Price: £5,000 to £6,000
