Jaguar XJ6, sporty luxury in black tulip
This XJ6 was newly delivered in England in 1972 in right hand drive configuration. The buyer's wife owned an MG B in a colour called Black Tulip. The XJ buyer liked this colour so much that he specially requested Jaguar to supply his new XJ6 in exactly the same colour. That makes this car the only XJ6 Series 1 in the world to be supplied in this colour by Jaguar itself!
Towards the mid-nineties, the Jaguar was exported to the Netherlands and was added to a large collection of classic British automobiles. The car was sold on in 1995 as a result of changes to this collection and the new owner had extensive work done to the car. The engine and gearbox were overhauled and major work was carried out on the front- and rear suspension and the braking system, amongst others. The drive was also converted from right to left. In addition, the car's original interior was replaced, at the request of the then owner, with the sumptuous furnishings of a Daimler Double Six Van den Plas.
In 2001, the 'Black Tulip' was purchased by its current owner, a Dutch national residing in South Africa. Twice a year, the car was collected from Noble House to be used for holiday trips in Europe. Due to the owner's age, trips to Europe don't take place anymore and the time has come for this stunning XJ6 to be sold to another enthusiast. The full service history of this unique Jaguar XJ6, as of 1995, is held by Noble House.
